Apex Security Group in Albuquerque, New Mexico was formed in 2017 with the goal of creating a security and safety approach that meets customer service. We are owned and operated by current, former, and retired police officers.

The Members of Apex Security Group is committed to providing professional, quality security service to our clients, their employees, and their customers/guests. We take the responsibility to maintain order, protect life and property and improve the quality of life for all Apex Security Group’s clients, employees, and their customers.


Our objective is to maintain a safe and secure environment for all our clients customers and guests by interacting with the community, emphasizing the control and prevention of crime and criminal activity. By maintaining order, rules and regulations, and protecting all that may encounter our clients, Apex Security Group will tirelessly strive to accomplish our mission. 

Meet Our Company Owner

Mario Romero is the CEO and owner of Apex Security Group. He is currently a senior instructor for the company and holds expertise as a use of force instructor in the reactive control module along with the federal laws of reasonableness.


He is an instructor in Law Enforcement Control Tactics certified by the Federal Law

Enforcement Training Academy. Mr. Romero is also a Gracie Survival Tactics instructor and holds several belts in jiujitsu.


He is a taser instructor and is certified in all law enforcement electronic control devices along with all civilian devices. Also, he is a national firearms instructor in the use of handgun and shotgun and a state of New Mexico Concealed Carry instructor.


Mr. Romero is a Department of Public Safety general police instructor and has developed several curriculums, such as courtroom security, officer safety for the rural police officer, executive protection, and defensive tactics using intermediate weapons.


Mr. Romero is a New Mexico Department of Public Safety instructor in Control Tactics, General Police, Use of Force, and Taser X2 X26 ECD.


Mr. Romero is a state of New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida armed and unarmed security instructor and holds classes on advanced security techniques for all Apex Security Group employees.


Mr. Romero has created several courses for security officers, such as officer safety for a security officer, basic handgun, advanced handgun, basic shotgun, and advanced handgun.


Mr. Romero has gone on to create a defensive tactics course directly related to the role of a security officer. He has also devised an active shooter response for a security officer and the role of a security officer in an active shooter incident.


Mr. Romero has created several custom policies and procedures for government and private business for active shooter preparation and readiness.


Mr. Romero has more than 15 years of experience as a police officer in the State of New Mexico. He was a full-time certified police officer for 8 years and continues to volunteer his time as a reserve officer.


As a police officer, Mr. Romero held positions in Field Training, Gang Unit, Community Policing, Crisis Intervention, Emergency Response Team, and Party Patrol.


Mr. Romero eventually was promoted to the Professional Standards Office. He was assigned as the training coordinator, internal affairs, police instructor, and recruiting and background investigator.


His task was to train and test all new police recruits and maintain oversight of the recruits in the Police Academy. In addition, Mr. Romero was tasked with heading all projects to include funding through the capital outlay and introducing neighborhood watch programs throughout the community.


Mr. Romero introduced a notification program that allowed neighborhood watch communities to text or email any notifications to Law Enforcement and surrounding neighbors.


Mr. Romero has managed more than 15 states with staff ranging from 150-200 employees. He has maintained clients from all walks of business and has provided a long-term solution for all security and safety needs.
